Previous experience in NGOs serving children and youth has led Salvation for All Ministries in Kolkata to provide a 3 hour program, 5 days a week for children and youth who are not enrolled in formal education. The team provides:
1) informal education programs, following a primary education syllabus, with the goal to help children increase their reading, writing, and comprehension to get further education at the secondary level;
2) hygiene supplies and a nutritious meal during the course of the daily program. Assistance with medical and clothing needs is given on an as-needed basis; and
3) socialization and spiritual engagement through excursions, celebrating Christmas, and the weeklly Sunday School program.
Funds given toward this initaitive will help Salvation Ministries in sustaining this initative and hopefully expanding what this team can offer the current (and likely growing) group of 45 children and youth.
