EMCC is raising funds as part of the Humanitarian Coalition Cyclone Idai Appeal in collaboration with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
Over 2.6 million people have been affected by the damage and flooding caused by Cyclone Idai—one of the worst storms to ever hit the Southern Hemisphere. Many people have lost their lives.
Roads, homes, schools, and crops have been destroyed. Some survivors are gathering in displacement centres, and there is a great need for basic necessities.
EMCC, in partnership with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and the Humanitarian Coalition, are appealing together to provide food assistance and emergency supplies and shelter to displaced people in Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.
Some of our member agencies were among the first on the ground redirecting their resources to flood-affected households.
We invite you to join with us, and pray for our Global Partners in Malawi, Zambia, and Brasil (who have mission work in Mozambique), as we respond together, in the compassionate love of Jesus.

Cyclone Idai has displaced families and flooded crops in Southern Africa. You can join EMCC in the relief effort.
The Government of Canada will match donations from individual Canadians to the Cyclone Idai appeal of the Humanitarian Coalition. “We are grateful for the contribution of the Government of Canada in providing a matching fund to multiply the contributions of individuals who want to help people affected by this disaster,” says Foodgrains Bank executive director Jim Cornelius. “We know Canadians are generous—and look forward to seeing the impact of so many coming together to make a difference,” he adds.
The Foodgrains Bank’s share of the Government of Canada matched funds will be used to scale up the efforts of its members and their partners to help survivors in the coming weeks and months. The match was announced April 1. It’s retroactive to March 15, and runs until April 14.
