Members of The Edge Home Church Network in Calgary have been attending the Calgary Expo for several years for the purpose of loving people and planting seeds of the gospel. Shortly after this year's event, The Home Church Network provided this encouraging report in their newsletter:
A number of folks from the Edge spent the weekend being 'present' at the Body, Soul & Spirit Expo in Calgary. They were present to bring the Kingdom of God near. They were there to love people, to look for 'people of peace' and to plant seeds of the Gospel. Here are comments from two of our workers:
"A lady came to our kiosk with a wide open heart and ended up giving her life to Christ today. Praise the Lord! Please pray for her as we continue to connect and seek to begin the discipleship process with her now."
"I had the privilege of speaking with a woman who told me how frustrated she was with having been told that she needs to go through 'someone' else, or 'something' else to approach God. What a joy to explain to her that we can have direct access to God through Jesus. She grew up in a Muslim home. Later she came and just sat with us and listened to Verne playing guitar."
I heard several other stories:
A woman came to thank 'us' for being present. She seemed to sense there was something different about 'this booth'.
Another woman asked for prayer and hope. She has felt a sense of despair and hopelessness since the death of her husband 8 years ago. When the team expressed, that we as followers of Jesus also grieve ... but we are NOT without hope ... she wanted that hope. Our workers were able to show God's love to her and pray with her.
We have an important presence at this event. It's been growing for years now. There was a sense of 'break through' this year and a recognition that our most strategic opportunities for ministry are not necessarily with the people who come through the EXPO, but with the other Booth Owners who see us ALL weekend and year after year.
We thank God for this opportunity to FOLLOW JESUS into the LIVES of OTHERS whom HE LOVES SO MUCH!
