Rick (Sandy) Heavenor is an EMCC Ordained minister working at Taylor Bible College and Seminary.
Born in 1926 at Aurora, Ontario to Helen Maloney, Ken was adopted into the Heavenor family in 1928 to a widow, Ellen Heavenor, and moved to Edmonton as the youngest of seven siblings. He was greatly loved by his mother and sisters - all having pre-deceased him. At 17, Ken caught tuberculosis and was admitted to the Sanatorium in Edmonton. He missed high school graduation but also missed the Second World War. Christian radio broadcasts led him to his Saviour Jesus Christ. After fully recovering, he began working for Canada Manpower, where he completed 35 years of public service.
He was introduced to Jean on a trip to Banff, eventually marrying at Beulah Alliance Church, later joining Fellowship Baptist Church. When the boys were in Elementary school, the family joined Braemar Baptist Church where a vibrant youth program eventually contributed to two sons entering Christian ministry.
He completed his high school and took university classes in the evenings while working full time and raising his family with Jean. He was a prolific reader particularly of European history, Royalty and Theology. He loved classic movies, classical music and photography. Ken was a long-time season ticket holder of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Edmonton Opera. A great conversationalist, Ken had so many wonderful friends.
Ken and Jean have lived at Eden House for the last several months after living 52 years in their Westmount home and 6 years in the "blue" house in Millwoods.
