Rev. Alfred Dietz, father of Regional Minister Lynn Dietz passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Phoenix, AZ Friday March 18, 2016. He was called of God off the family farm in Alberta to take up pastoral life and ministry. Alfred pastored 7 churches in Alberta and 2 in Iowa from 1955 to 1992 - Cremona, Mountain View, Acadia Valley / Alsask, Galahad, Trenton / White Oak Iowa, Olds and Sundre. He retired to Phoenix AZ. where he lived to his passing.
Alfred was a man of God, full of compassion, humour and a strong work ethic. He not only served the people of his church but the communities where he pastored. He served on many church denominational committees, Village councilor and Mayor of the Village of Galahad, bus driver and other activities. He worked on several building projects as a committee member and chairman, helped with the formation of the James River Bible Camp, and the biggest project was a very large addition to the church he attended in Phoenix. After his retirement, he continued to lead men’s groups, chair the board and lead bible studies. Alfred also had a passion for music that filled his life from childhood to his last days. He played the piano and organ at the Baptist Village Center where he lived, entertaining the seniors daily before and after meals, as well as playing regularly for the church chapel at the centre. He will be missed by family and friends.
There will be a memorial celebration service of his life and ministry on March 30th at 2:00 PM at the Agri-Center in his home town of Galahad, Alberta.
