Rev. BOHR, Timothy (Ordained Minister)

Timothy (Tim) Bohr was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on April 17, 1964. He grew up in Nigeria, where his parents were missionaries with the United Methodist Church from January 1966–1980. Tim graduated from Hillcrest Christian College in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and then went on to attend Western Evangelical Seminary in Portland, Oregon, graduating with a Masters of Divinity in 1989.
Tim was ordained in the Evangelical Church of North America in 1991 and served churches in Saskatchewan and British Columbia from 1989 - 2015. Commissioned as a U.S. Army Chaplain Candidate in June 1988, Tim transferred to the Chaplain Corps in 1991. He served two tours overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait as well as serving as a reserve chaplain on several US Military Bases until he retired from the military on November 1, 2022. During this time Tim received many awards and decorations. Tim was an Executive Director for Chilliwack Community Services and oversaw the building of “The Village Transitional Housing” for homeless youth.
From 2015–2018 Tim served as the Chilliwack Salvation Army’s Community Ministries Director, providing senior administrative leadership to all their ministries. Early in 2018, Tim built the 63-bed Salvation Army Homeless Shelter in Chilliwack alongside his now-wife, Joann. Tim worked at WJS Canada from 2018–2020 as a Regional Service Director providing personalized, trauma-informed care to children and families. Tim married Joann De Vera on November 3, 2022, and is the father of two stepchildren, Samantha and Liam and two boys from a previous marriage, Joshua and Rylan. Tim was studying to be a family counsellor at City University prior to his passing on March 14, 2023.
