Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church in Three Hills, AB is looking for a Youth Minister.
The Youth Minister position (full-time) works under Christ alongside the Lead Pastor to fulfill the mission and vision of Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church (BEMC).
FUNCTION:
Within the overall ministry of BEMC, the Youth Minister will focus on the nurture, Christian education, and the equipping of youth.
PLACEMENT:
The Youth Minister shall be appointed by the Church Board upon recommendation of the Lead Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Youth Minister shall be a born-again believer, and be willing to become an active and supportive member of BEMC.
- Shall have a grace-oriented and Spirit-led walk with God, demonstrating strong Christian disciplines in all areas of life.
- Shall be in agreement with the EMCC Articles of Faith and Practice and be credentialed (or willing to pursue credentials) with the EMCC.
- Shall be compatible with the ministry staff team (a relational ‘fit’ or chemistry of the team)
- Shall be in agreement with the philosophy and style of ministry of BEMC, and actively advance the vision, values, and ministry of the church.
- Shall be relational, loving, and respectful of all people and of all age levels.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills, especially when it comes to youth and their parents.
- Must have some level of post-secondary Bible/ministry education and/or ministry experience.
- Have experience in organizing events, working with teams, and managing budgets.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Accountable to the Lead Pastor and through him to the Church Board
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Pray for the Ministry – Being devoted to prayer is a scriptural mandate for those involved in ministry.
- Teach God’s Word – The Youth Minister will have the primary responsibility of teaching the Bible in a relevant and engaging manner to the youth, though can delegate to other trusted individuals under their supervision.
- Create Safe and Welcoming Environment – When the youth meet for worship, teaching, outreach or social gathering, it is the role of the Youth Minister to foster a healthy tone and beneficial atmosphere for the youth.
- Build a Leadership Team – Both adult volunteers and youth leaders will be recruited and equipped for participation in the leadership of the ministry.
- Discipleship – The Youth Minister will mentor and develop relationships with the youth so that life-on-life transformation can take place.
- Build Relationships with Families – The Youth Minister should come alongside parents or guardians of the teens to support and encourage a holistic approach to Christian development. This may involve regular news emails, parent meetings, and being available to support families of teens in crisis.
- Connect with Local Schools and Community Organizations – The Youth Minister will also connect and build relationships with students “on their turf”, be present on site to encourage and celebrate their accomplishments, whether at school, at sport events, skate park, etc.
- Connect the Youth Ministry to the Whole Church – It is important that students see that they are a valuable part of the bigger church family. Whether through service opportunities, intergenerational social activities, or mentorship, it is the Youth Minister’s responsibility to foster this.
- Provide Spiritual Guidance and Counsel – The Youth Minister should be someone available to meet with, listen to, pray over, open God’s Word to, and provide wise guidance to those who come for support. The role of Youth Minister is basically that of “shepherding” the students of BEMC.
- Engaging the Great Commission – Though the Youth Minister has a primary responsibility to the students who call BEMC their church home, there should always be a concern and initiative to reach those who have not yet come to faith.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation is negotiable within salary range of BEMC, background, education, and experience.
