Thank you again for all of your prayers for the Presidential Search Committee and our efforts over the past year. As we approach General Assembly, we are going to continue to unpack for you our President Nominee Kervin Raugust. In this release, we would like to tell you more about Kervin, his ministry experience and qualifications, and his family.

He is a person of integrity who serves faithfully and humbly without pretense. He has been engaged in pastoral ministry as well as in senior leadership capacities in various churches, a college and district office over the years:
Kervin has a solid theological education, having earned a BCE (Hillcrest Christian College, 1980) and an M.Div. (Western Evangelical Seminary, 1982). His teaching, preaching and writing align with the doctrines and convictions of the EMCC. Kervin also holds Certified Facilitator status with Leadership Network Planning Process, Fierce Conversations, and Ken Blanchard Situational Leadership II, and Executive Coach status with Newfield Network Certified Training Program.
Character and Personality
Kervin exemplifies a heart after God. His life models self-discipline, consistency, trustworthiness, and most importantly, integrity. Kervin has a propensity for spiritual disciplines that nurture his inner life, especially prayer and meditation, and he devotes time and energy to developing habits which foster his spiritual growth. He loves the Lord, he loves the church, and he loves people.
Kervin’s professional life is consistent with his personal life, which is essential for a person serving in a publicly visible leadership role in Christian ministry. He has a special yearning for the development of competent Godly leaders, and is energized by multiplying his ministry through investing in them through small groups and one-to-one interaction. Kervin has the ability to consistently encourage and motivate with a positive message. His ministry impact is enhanced by his approachable manner and his thoughtful and passionate oral communication both in public speaking and in person. He leads with a shepherd’s heart, inspires followership, and empowers others as they lead.
Gifts and Accomplishments
As the Presidential Nominee, Kervin offers his strengths as teacher, coach and mentor. He is a strategic thinker and problem solver, and thrives as a collaborative team builder. He possesses the functional gifts of apostle, prophet and teacher. He is an encourager and a discipler of emerging leaders.
Over the course of his years in ministry, Kervin has faithfully served as the senior shepherd of three different sized churches from 35 to 200, bringing a new sense of identity and kingdom expression, and leaving each church better positioned and equipped for its future. Through the application of principles of organizational design, leadership development and team-building, Kervin, in his role as Executive Pastor at Centre Street Church (CSC), helped to create a functionally healthy and spiritually strong organization; as a result, CSC has consistently received top ten recognition for the Best Christian Workplace national award. The School for Disciple Making Leadership at CSC, the “farm team system” for developing future leaders, was launched as a result of Kervin’s insight and diligent investment. In addition to ministry within churches, Kervin shared his expertise on the Board of International Justice Mission Canada, as they transitioned to a Policy Governance® model, including development of an orientation manual and establishing board processes. These varied accomplishments provide a solid foundation for Kervin as he contemplates future service as President of EMCC if elected.
Kervin’s Family
Kervin enjoys a supportive family - his wife, Joan of 38 years, sons Jordan and daughter-in-law Heather with 3 life giving grandkids; and differently-abled son, Tyler, whom Kervin adores as “his teacher”.
EMCC National Board’s Affirmation
“The EMCC National Board is thankful for all of the detailed work and prayerful consideration invested in the search process by the Presidential Search Committee. We are very pleased about Kervin being our Presidential Nominee and we are excited about what God has in store for both Kervin and the EMCC in the next chapter of our story, should Kervin be elected by the General Assembly in May.” – Kerry Belt, EMCC National Board Moderator
We ask that you would continue to pray for Kervin and the EMCC, and that over the course of the weeks leading up to General Assembly we would together have a strong unified sense of God’s direction and blessing. We are preparing another communication for you, which will highlight the areas that the National Board feels our next President needs to provide insight and strategies on over the next 4 years. And then of course, we will also share with you Kervin’s vision for the EMCC and how God has been shaping his heart in preparation for this role. We hope to have this for you in four to six weeks.
