Window of Hope and Reconciliation (12/17/2008)

“At 5 years old I was street fighting against English kids at the border of our Catholic parish. As a young adult, from the window I was taught to look through, I became a separatist. Later, at the time in my life when it looked like I had it all together, I felt empty inside. That was until I became reconciled with God. Two years later, at 38, I was still carrying my “separatist” mindset in my Christian life. God, with a great sense of humour, sent me to “English Canada” to study the Bible and theology. God graciously set me free through an experience of reconciliation with English people, marking a crucial turning point for my spiritual growth and relationships.

World Partners Missionary, Donald Gingras has written a book that brings understanding about the heritage of the ongoing broken and unresolved relationship amongst French, Native Canadians and English (and now immigrants). Window of Hope…and Reconciliation is a survey of 400 years of Canadian history observed from a biblical window and is a revealing story about Quebec - a grown up orphan living in Canada, a hurting blended family.

quebecFrom this moment (1988), I felt prompted to answer this question: ‘Why are French, Native Canadians and English still fighting with each other?’ God led me to research, conduct conferences and finally write a book called Window of Hope... and Reconciliation published August, 2008 (www.ccquebec.org. Key insights endeavour to explain obstacles to faith in Quebec as well as in Canada as a whole.

From the little boy who was street fighting with English people, God transformed my life and made me speak to promote the Gospel of Reconciliation across the country of Canada for His Glory (2 Corinthian 5: 15-20). With reconciliation comes the transforming power to changes lives and relationships, a great hope for such a time.”
