Haitian Women Graduate Teacher Training Course (12/17/2008)

“Thank you so much for coming to be with us and sharing the Bible lessons. They are helping us reach others for Jesus.”

These words were spoken time and again by many of the women. They came by foot, donkey, motorcycle and truck over seemingly impassable roads, some making trips as long as eight hours to attend this course offered by EMCC.

“EMCWomen thank the Lord for His many blessings during our recent mission trip to Haiti. God showed His hand from the quick check-in process at Toronto, to finding two missing pieces of luggage in Port-au-Prince before we traveled up country. God also provided translators for each session, and good health to Mary Hesse as she taught 11 lessons in 3 ½ days”, says Director of EMCWomen, Debi Snider.

About 75 women attended the sessions this year. There were about 42 who attended classes all three years, with others attending the 1st and 3rd year, or the 2nd and 3rd year. Each woman received a certificate indicating her level of completion.

“We were especially blessed to hear the personal stories of women who have used their training and materials to share the life changing message of Christ. We heard of women reconciled with husbands, others who came to Christ, and one woman was healed.

The graduation was held on Thursday, November 6, in the late afternoon. The women spent the afternoon having their hair done and dressing in beautiful white dresses. (Women must be the same everywhere). The graduation was a three hour celebration of praise and thanksgiving, and a banquet followed. This was the only graduation many of them will experience so it was very special.
