Regional Minister Visits EMCC’s Cdn Armed Forces Padre (3/28/2008)On the 28th of January 2008 a historic event took place for the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada’s first Regular force Chaplain. The Regional Minister of his denomination, Reverend Lynn Dietz traveled to Victoria for the first time to make an official visit to his Chaplain and family (Padre Heemskerk). He had the opportunity to meet several of the Chaplains on Base including the Formation Chaplain (Padre Domotor) and the Senior Fleet Chaplain (Padre Ohs).
Included in his tour he visited the Base Commander (Captain Williamson) the CO of the 443 Squadron (LCol Allan) where he saw the inside of a Sea King Helicopter, and HMCS Vancouver where he was provided a tour. His entire visit proved to be an “eye opener” as he put it, and has given him a new appreciation for the work of CF Chaplains and those whom we serve. As he left he assured me that, “I now know how to pray for you and your ministry with more intelligence!” His visit turned out to be a wonderful success both for him and the Fleet Chaplain Team.
