Our Ongoing Story EMCC WP Missionaries Kevin & Michelle Weppler ~ Romania Witchcraft is rampant and spiritual warfare a daily reality in southern Romania where Kevin and Michelle Weppler live. They have experienced hostility, distrust and have even been awakened in the night by a local witch chanting outside their gate. Why do they stay? In Medicine Hat and surrounding areas, severe flooding in late June led to a voluntary evacuation order of hundreds of people from their homes. Some suffered massive property damage and returned to overwhelming cleanup operations. The need is great and the opportunity is equally great. The Haiti earthquake in January 2010 is perhaps just a memory for many of us in Canada, but the effects of the devastation are a daily reality for the people of Haiti. The first response stage relief is giving way to second stage development. One of the mandates of EMCWomen is to equip women for God’s ministry. We are now gathering our team to travel to Haiti for our final Teacher Training Module. We have seen about 45 women complete the two modules, with a total of about 100 women able to attend at least one module. We will complete the course next fall. We also came to see first-hand that while we have far more resources and options than the average Haitian, material wealth is not everything; in fact in many respects it’s a curse.
